Uniform and Sport Kit

As RGS Surrey Hills enters an exciting new chapter as part of the Reigate Grammar School family, our uniform reflects the values that unite our community.

It is more than what students wear. It represents pride, respect, belonging and a commitment to making the most of every opportunity. Our uniform has been designed to be smart, practical and comfortable, supporting students throughout the school day while creating a strong sense of identity across the school.

Students are expected to wear their uniform with pride and present themselves in a way that reflects the standards and aspirations of the RGS Surrey Hills community.

Current Uniform Purchases

Families who need to purchase uniform items before our new supplier is introduced may continue to purchase the following non-branded items, which will remain suitable under the new uniform arrangements:

  • Green V-neck sweater
  • Grey trousers
  • White long-sleeved blouse or shirt
  • White short-sleeved blouse or shirt
  • Plain grey tights
  • White ankle socks (not trainer socks)
  • School tie (boys only)
  • Dark-coloured coat
  • Kilt skirt in RGS Surrey Hills colours

Current Uniform Supplier

Blazers

Current school blazers will continue to be worn during the transition period. All current students will receive a new RGS Surrey Hills embroidered badge, which should be sewn onto the blazer lapel in preparation for September 2026. When you purchase a blazer from Unismart, this will already be on the blazers.

School uniform should be worn and a smart appearance is expected at all times. This means shirts should be tucked in with the top button fastened. Hoodies are not allowed apart from when worn for sport. School shoes must be worn, no trainers.

 

Sport Kit

We are delighted to announce that RGS Surrey Hills has partnered with Grays Team Sports as our new sportswear supplier. Grays Team Sports incorporates leading sports brands including Gilbert, Grays Hockey, and Gray-Nicolls Cricket, providing us with access to high-quality, sport-specific clothing and equipment across our entire sports programme.

If you have already purchased sports kit from Unismart, your child is very welcome to continue wearing this until you choose to replace it. There is no expectation that existing kit should be changed immediately.

New sportswear items are now available through the RGS Surrey Hills online shop 

For fixtures and representative sport, certain teams will be provided with school-owned match shirts and dresses through our sponsorship programme. However, all pupils are expected to have the appropriate sports kit for games lessons, fixtures and match days, including:

  • School sports top
  • Appropriate shorts or skort
  • School sports socks
  • Any sport-specific items required for their activity

Years 7–11

Everyday Expectations

Students in Years 7–11 are expected to:

  • Wear the correct school uniform throughout the school day.
  • Arrive at school ready to learn and prepared for all activities.
  • Take pride in their appearance and personal presentation.
  • Wear clothing that is clean, smart and well maintained.
  • Follow any additional dress requirements for educational visits, events and formal occasions.
  • Wear the appropriate PE kit for lessons, fixtures and sporting activities.

Personal Presentation

We ask students to present themselves in a way that reflects the values of the school:

  • Hair should be kept tidy. In years 7-9 long hair should be neatly tied back. Unnaturally coloured or excessively styled hair that draws attention to the wearer is not allowed. The Headmaster is the sole judge
    of this standard.
  • Jewellery may not be worn apart from a watch and small, stud earrings. No hoops.
  • Make-up should be discreet and age appropriate.
  • Nails should be practical for school life and sporting participation.
  • Any appearance choices should support a positive and respectful learning environment.

Sixth Form

Preparing for the Future

Sixth Form represents an important step towards university, apprenticeships and professional life. Our Sixth Form dress code is designed to encourage independence while maintaining the high standards expected within our community. Students are trusted to make sensible choices that reflect both their individuality and the professional environment in which they learn.

Sixth Form Expectations

Sixth Form students should dress in a manner that is:

  • Smart and professional.
  • Appropriate for a workplace-style environment.
  • Suitable for lessons, meetings and formal occasions.
  • Respectful of the wider school community.

Suitable attire includes:

  • Tailored trousers, skirts or dresses.
  • Smart shirts, blouses and tops.
  • Smart knitwear.
  • Blazers or jackets for formal occasions.
  • Smart footwear.

Professional Presentation

Students should ensure that:

  • Clothing is clean, well maintained and appropriate for school.
  • Hair, jewellery and accessories remain professional and suitable for a learning environment.
  • Personal presentation reflects the leadership role Sixth Form students hold within the school community.

The Sixth Form Team reserves the right to make the final judgement on whether attire is appropriate for school.
